Dear Pear Patrons,

Join us as we celebrate 24 years of bold, intimate theatre that delights, ignites, and inspires. This season, The Pear unearths the complexities of identity, transformation, and the masks we wear to meet society’s expectations. Through five captivating plays—woven with humor, heart, and a hint of darkness—we explore journeys of discovery, deception, and the quiet pressures that shape our lives.

Fan favorite Pear Slices returns with eight brand-new short plays by local playwrights, offering sharp, surprising snapshots of life’s hidden corners.

From reimagined classics to daring contemporary works, each story reveals the tension between who we are, who we pretend to be, and what happens when the truth comes to light.

A Critical Moment for the Arts

With his cunning wife, Annie, and Kate, the housekeeper, drawn into the mix, the night unfolds as a thrilling exploration of trust, morality, and the choices that shape our fate.

Ada and The Engine
by Lauren Gunderson

Directed by TBA

A visionary journey of love, ambition, and the boundless power of the mind. Poetry meets mathematics, the past meets the future, and one woman’s brilliance changes history forever.

Brilliant, bold, and ahead of her time, Ada Lovelace is the daughter of the infamous poet Lord Byron—but she is a poet of numbers. In a world that seeks to confine her, Ada dreams of an engine that could think, unlocking the dawn of the modern computer. Fueled by her intellectual passion and a deep connection with the renowned inventor Charles Babbage, Ada’s journey is one of heart, spirit, and mind—a battle between logic and longing, societal expectation and personal ambition.

With lyrical storytelling and striking wit, Ada and the Engine explores intellectual passion versus societal expectation, showing the tension between personal brilliance and the roles imposed on women.

My Fair Lady
Book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner
Music by Frederick Loewe

Directed & Choreographed by Sara K. Dean

A bold reimagining of transformation, class, and identity—where the streets sing louder than the salons. With a pub as our stage, My Fair Lady explores the humor, heart, and harsh realities of class division—all while celebrating the indomitable spirit of those who fight for a better life.

Set in the heart of a English pub, this immersive production invites us to see Eliza Doolittle’s journey not through the eyes of high society, but from the perspective of those who scrub its floors and pour its drinks. As Professor Henry Higgins sets out to sculpt Eliza into a "proper lady," the story deepens into a moving exploration of dignity, survival, and the cost of reinvention.

Featuring iconic songs like "Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?", "I Could Have Danced All Night", and "Get Me to the Church on Time", this My Fair Lady invites you to raise a glass, join the revelry, and experience the story as you’ve never seen it before.

Anon(ymous)
by Naomi Iizuka

Directed by Vinh G. Nguyen

A powerful journey of identity, resilience, and the search for home.

Lost in an unfamiliar world, a young refugee named Anon navigates a perilous odyssey across a fractured landscape, encountering a cast of strangers—some kind, some cruel, all searching for something. Separated from his mother, Anon must rely on his wit, courage, and hope to survive as he moves through a tapestry of haunting, poetic, and surreal encounters.

Inspired by Homer’s The Odyssey, Anon(ymous) is a lyrical and urgent reimagining of what it means to belong. It is a journey that explores the power of memory, the pain of displacement, and the strength of an individual as he confronts his identity.

God of Carnage
by Yasmina Reza
Translated by Christopher Hampton

Directed by Kimberly Ridgeway

A biting comedy of manners God of Carnage unearths the chaos simmering beneath the surface of civility, revealing just how thin the mask of politeness truly is.

Two sets of parents meet to discuss a playground scuffle between their sons. What begins as a diplomatic exchange soon devolves into a ferocious evening of accusations, power plays, and emotional unraveling. As tensions rise and allegiances shift, the characters expose their rawest selves—ugly, hilarious, and heartbreakingly human.

With razor-sharp wit and explosive dialogue, God of Carnage is a wickedly funny exploration of social pretense, marital discord, and the primal instincts we pretend we’ve outgrown.
